Everyone gets afraid from time to time. For some of us though, certain fears or phobias begin to take over our thinking and control areas of our lives. Examples of phobias include: fear of flying, spiders, heights, needles, visiting the dentist, certain animals and public speaking; in fact, the list is endless.
The fear may have been triggered by a single, frightening experience; learned or copied from someone else or gradually crept into our lives over time. It may well be that we don’t know the cause but the reality is that its affects our daily lives.
These fears and phobias may prevent you from doing things you want or need to do; keep you from forming close relationships or even leave you isolated in your own home. Fears and phobias often overshadow life’s enjoyable moments, leaving you feeling hopeless and powerless.
Hypnotherapy will allow you to access the power of your creative, unconscious mind and develop new ways of thinking and feeling about what ever causes you fear and distress.
Hypnotherapy can offer help for the following:
- Agoraphobia: an anxiety about being in places from which you feel escape might be difficult or embarrassing.
- Social fear or phobia: apprehension brought on by certain social or performance situations that lead to avoidance behaviour.
- Specific fears or phobia: fear when presented with a specific stimulus which leads to avoidance or panic. These include animals or insects, rats, spiders, etc.; the environment; storms, heights, etc.; medical issues; dentists, blood, etc. and specific situations such as flying, enclosed spaces, etc.
